HOW about this for a catch of tench... including FIVE double-figure specimens!

The monster tench fell to specimen fish ace Alan Rio as he enjoyed one of his best ever sessions.

Alan bagged 11 tench, topped by FIVE doubles, including this 10 lb 13 oz red-eyed beauty (above).

The NHS project manager from Woking, Surrey, added other monster tench of 10 lb 3 oz, 10 lb  7 oz, 10 lb 7 oz, 10 lb 10 oz.

He also caught four nine-pounders, including a 9 lb 3 oz male – a mighty weight for a male. His two smaller fish weighed 6 lb 5 oz and 8 lb 15 oz.

Alan told Angler’s Mail: “I decided on a three-night trip to a club lake, as the weather was looking good, a big low pressure forecast.

“The lake was quite busy when I arrived, so I squeezed into a new area that I had not fished before.

“I put out 15-20 Spombs of chopped worm, casters, particles, corn and Richworth Tutti Frutti Stick Mix, held together with Richworth Tutti Frutti Bait Booster Syrup.

“In total, I fed 200 lobworms, five pints of casters, four pints of red maggots, one 500 ml bottle of Bait Booster Syrup, one bag of Richworth Tutti Frutti Stick Mix, six pints of particles and two tins of corn.”

Alan continued: “I fished a ‘naked’ rig, basically a 2 in. trace of 10 lb Gardner Target braid, a 2 oz inline lead, and three large, juicy lobworms, their heads and tails removed, on a size 8 Mugga hook.

“This rig needs to be cast accurately to a smooth spot to ensure a positive bite.

“What a very memorable session. I was thrilled that my rigs proved so devastating,” concluded Alan.
